Automated Clearing House (ACH)

ACH is a network that has been used for electronically moving funds between bank accounts across the U.S. since the 1970s. Rules and regulations on this transaction type are enforced by NACHA:

  • NACHA also limits when an institution has rights to return transactions made through the ACH network
  • A transaction that uses an account and routing number to debit (or credit) an account.
